Helen R. Scott

Helen Ruth Scott of New Braunfels, TX passed away at home on Tuesday, January 28 at the age of 89. Helen was born on August 11, 1930 in Ironton, Missouri to Irene & Marvin Barnes. Helen was the eldest of 5 children. She graduated with an Associate's degree in Music and Education from SW Baptist College in Bolivar, MO. Helen married Earl Scott on June 4, 1950. She enjoyed sewing and creating her own designs for clothing and costumes and also playing the piano. She loved her family, laughter, helping others, picnics in the park and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helen had the love of Jesus in her heart and volunteered with Earl at the SOS Food Bank in New Braunfels. Helen helped organize her Sunday School class to assist Baptist Missions in Mexico with a large number Christmas stockings full of gifts. She was a member at Oakwood Baptist Church and then Eastside Baptist Church in New Braunfels.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her son John, and brothers Marvin Barnes and Walter Barnes. She is survived by her children, daughter Carolyn Barron, son Mike Scott and his wife Sharron, daughter Mary Reynolds, son Roger Scott and his wife Carolyn, and son Jim Scott and his wife Jennie. Helen is survived by 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren that she loved dearly. Her brothers Emmett Barnes and Robert Barnes and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 2, 2020 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Zoeller Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 3, 2020 at 10:00 am at Zoeller Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow at Comal Cemetery.
