

It is with great sadness that the family of Howard Thomas Trimble announces his passing on Friday, December 22, 2017, at the age of 70 years. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 21 years, Sally, his son, Chris, his sisters, Carol and Ellen, his brothers, Tim and Ted, and his many nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends and colleagues.
Tom was born in 1946 in Springfield, IL, the son of Howard and Lois Jean Trimble. In 1964, Tom married Therese Kelley, with whom he had his only son, Chris.
Shortly after the birth of their son, Tom joined the Army where he served his country with valor and distinction as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam in 1966 - 1967. He was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism during aerial flight. Tom was also awarded the Bronze Star and twice awarded the Air Medal during his service in Vietnam. After returning from the war, he continued to serve in the Army as a pilot, unit commander and staff officer for 20 years, serving tours in Korea, Texas, Florida, Germany, and Colorado. At his retirement from the Army in 1985 he was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. While serving in the Army, he received his bachelor's degree from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado, graduating summa cum laude.
In 1996, Tom married Sally Pinto. He continued to serve his country as a senior executive for the Titan, L-3, and SAIC corporations providing critical technology to the Department of Defense. After retiring in 2010, Tom and Sally moved to New Braunfels, TX, to be with his mother during her final years.
Throughout his life, Tom made a powerful impact on those around him with his generosity and respect. He enjoyed travel, good food, fine wines, and the company of family and friends. Although he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2010, he always maintained a positive outlook, and reached out to help others, including fellow Parkinson's patients and veterans in need.
Services will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa Street, New Braunfels, TX with visitation starting at 8 a.m and a memorial service starting at 9 a.m., followed by a committal service with military honors at 11 a.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, TX.
