JACK R. SMITH passed away of cancer quietly in the arms of his wife and children on the 22nd of October, just nine days before his 80th birthday. He was born in Plumfield Illinois, October 31, 1930, the son of John R. Smith Sr. and Ruby Smith. He was the oldest of three sons, younger brothers Tom and Lonnie Smith. He was a loving husband to his wife June for 56 years, and beloved father to daughter Julie, son Joel and proud grandfather (Opa) to grand daughters Meridith and Carley. After serving in the Air Force, he had a more than 30 year carer at 3M Company. He was active in the American Legion and served on several local City Boards, along with a part-time job at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for the past 18 years. He was a wonderful man who's hard work provided his family with a safe, loving and happy home. He showed his love in everything he did. He leaves behind many cherished friends and extended family, from all over the country, who share treasured memories of a life well lived.
