Jim was a man of God sent to save people. I can think of no higher complement.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Scarborough during the mid 1990's at Raymondville High School. What stood out to me about him was his positive attitude, genuine smile, and astonishing patience.  Mr. Scarborough was truly an amazing teacher and amazing man. Thank you for your service to the community of Raymondville. May you Rest in Peace.

God speed sir. I remember having a over night event at your place with the Methodist Church if I remember correctly,  This took place north of Raymondville back when I was a kid. It was somewhere up in a ranch.  Great times at church and at school. You are forever in many of our memories. ❤️

your were an amazing person with a huge heart. You were God sent to RHS you were always there to help us through anything. You left a lasting impression on many and taught us so much. Love and miss you. We will meet again

Mr. Scarborough was the most phenomenal person I had the privilege of knowing and confiding in.  He genuinely cared about each of us with the utmost respect and positivity.  Thank you Mr. Scarborough for having graced this world with your presence and I hope you knew how loved you were by so many.  Rest In Peace with our Heavenly Father.  

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Jane and Erin. Jim was a very special person and will be sorely missed. 

Mr. Scarborough was such a positive presence while I was in high school, the one that we knew we could turn to whenever there was a need, no matter how desperate the need. He had such a calming presence that it granted me assurance during my own time of doubt, and he provided the presence and support that only a man of his faith could provide. Thank you, sir, be seeing you one of these days in His presence.

My heart is broken for the Scarborough family and for all of us at the loss of Jim.  Jim is such a positive influence on all of us...and his spirit remains alive in our lives.  My sincere sympathy to all the family and friends.  Words seem so inadequate.  love and blessings

Mr. Scarborough was a wonderful person to know, I would have never made it through my high school years with out his knowledge and guidance, I pray we see each other again someday, you will be truly missed but never forgotten. My condolences to Mrs. Scarborough and her family, may you get through these hard times with lots of peace in your hearts like he would have wanted..😭😭

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Thank you doesn’t come close to expressing the gratitude I have for the times we (your students) were blessed to have had you in our lives. I know great experiences don’t last forever but the imprint you had on us will. You taught me the greatest lesson that I still teach my daughters  about today......anger isn’t just one emotion....it’s a mixture of many different feelings that happen all at once.....that lesson alone had such an impact on my life. It was the light switch I needed at a very young age. Thank you for that and thank you for being Francine’s God Father. I remember the day you held her up at the dedication at First Methodist in Raymondville.  She was in her car seat and everyone thought she was gonna fall out!  You were the hope we didn’t know we needed and you saw the best in all of us when we couldn’t see it in ourselves.  You made so many peoples lives better just being in it, I admire you for that....and I hope to be something just as great......fly with the angels Sir...we love you and we miss you! See you on the other side....

Oh my goodness!  So many memories to share-how do I choose?  Well, I fondly remember Jim strolling around the house in the early weekend mornings, Apollo (right?) the Cockatiel perched on his shoulder, and whistling "As the Saints Come Marching In."  He had his coffee cup in hand, stopping in the kitchen periodically for a refill and looking at me to flash his special grin complete with his trademark hum.  And of course, there was Jane (hopefully making MONKEY BREAD!) to say with a laugh, "Jimmmmm!"  This man was a second dad to me and I'm so grateful for his move to San Marcos so we could be reunited again for periodic visits.  I expect Jim to meet me at the pearly gates one day, flash his mischievous grin and say, "You and me, right Stace?"  I love him and miss him.  You and me, right Jim?  You and Dad behave!  :)  

Although I did not know James Scarborough IV directly, I do know his lovely daughter Erin. I have the pleasure of working with Erin and she is such a wonderful and giving person. My deepest condolences to the entire family. 

You're one of the most outstanding and most unique houses I have ever met in my life you were a big influence to everybody you always brought someone up when they were down you're just a big spirit and everybody's life in high school and you been throughout your life and I had a pleasure meeting you and high school you are my counselor you were just a great man you will be greatly missed

Jim was a great comfort to many of the students at Raymondville High School and to me. He was a place where we could go to receive comfort and sound advice. His love for humanity and caring heart were an example to us all. We will miss your gentle soul. Thank you, James Scarborough, for being a part of my life.

Memorial Service

Jim was born on July 19, 1942 at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim Scarborough III and Martha Berg, step-father Julius Berg and his brother Larry Scarborough. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane Scarborough, daughter Erin Scarborough, son James and Missy Scarborough, grandchildren Zachary, Tyler and Hayden Scarborough, his aunt Barbara and Laverne May, his sister Sheri Scarborough and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
