

Juan A. Moreno was born in New Braunfels, Texas to Juan G. Moreno and Theresa Perez on May 10, 1924. He went to be with the Lord peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 18, 2014 at the age of 90.
Early on Mr. Moreno worked at Servtex for 20 years and retired from West Point Pepperell after 24 years of service. They also ran the El Capricho restaurant in the mid-seventies for 10 years. After their retirement, Juan and Eudelia enjoyed many years of traveling across the country visiting casinos and other points of interest. Las Vegas was their favorite destination. More recently, the casinos at Coushatta and Kickapoo were their favorites. Their sons, daughters and grandchildren accompanied them on many of their trips.
In their earlier years Mr. and Mrs. Moreno enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with family and friends. He loved baseball and loved to watch the Texas Rangers. Mr. Moreno’s life was his family, which would always come before anything else.
He was an usher at Holy Family Catholic Church for over 20 years, a member of the Holy Name Society, the American Legion for over 60 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by Eudelia T. Moreno, his loving wife of 65 years, daughter Leticia “Tish” Villarreal and her husband Eusebio, son Juan Carlos Moreno and his wife Sylvia, son Cesar Moreno and daughter Yari Herrera and her husband David Herrera. Grandchildren Anthony G. Villarreal, Denise Villarreal, Carol Jackson, John M. Moreno, Janine Moreno, Eric M. Moreno, Isabella Moreno, Jennifer Barrera, Roxanne Herrera, Krystal Herrera, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by one brother, Frank Moreno and his wife Linda, Theresa Lopez, Estella Martinez and her husband Enrique, Soila Alvarez, Carol Huff and Gloria Christen. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Ramiro Moreno and sisters Celia Barboza, Rose “Gina” Petit and one grandson, Zachary Cesar Moreno.
Mr. Moreno was a World War II combat veteran serving from 1943 to 1945. His combat tour took him thru Italy France, Germany, Arica and Austria.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Friday, November 21, 2014 at Zoeller Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 7:00 Friday evening. The funeral procession will depart Zoeller Funeral Home Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Craig Jackson, Anthony G. Villarreal, John J. Moreno, Eric M. Moreno, Ray Mendez, and Tony Renteria. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Chapa and Lee Alanis.
