Juan was born in San Marcos, TX to Doroteo and Soledad Aguirre Quiroz on March 2, 1944. He attended school in New Braunfels. He married Crusita Espinosa in 1962. Years after Crusita’s passing, Juan remarried Anita Valadez in 1987. He worked as a barber in his early years and then owned his own plumbing business, Quiroz Plumbing, for over 30 years. He was involved in Little League, Knights of Columbus and was an active member at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Juan was a family man that went above and beyond for his loved ones. Juan and Crusita’s love for their children was wonderfully captured in a newspaper article from the New Braunfels Herald Zeitung that talked about the way Juan would take his bedridden wife to all of their son’s games. Their story was an inspiration for many in the community.
Juan absolutely loved being a grandparent and great-grandparent. He was always cheering on his grandkids in football, baseball, band and ballet folklorico. He loved playing checkers with his great grandkids, and his competitive nature would never allow them to win.
Juan enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams (Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Texas Rangers and Houston Astros), and he loved watching Dancing with the Stars and America’s Got Talent.
Juan was known for his sense of humor and ability to never meet a stranger.
