

Karen M. Wirth, age 68, of New Braunfels, TX died on May 21, 2014. She was born on August 19, 1945 in Janesville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Dorothy (Laube) and Harold Bernstein. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1963 and Whitewater State University in 1967. Karen taught third grade in Burlington, WI for seven years before her marriage to L. Karl Wirth on August 3, 1974. They moved to Texas in 1984.
Karen enjoyed sewing, crafts, hunting and fishing. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed working with the Newsletter group there.
Survivors include her husband Karl, sons, Charles (Lin) Wirth of Muldoon, TX, Steve (Patty) Wirth of AZ, and step-daughter, Dianne (Corbett) Mask of CA. Children by choice are Naomi (Scott Johnson) Nowland of IA and Jon (Christi) Nowland of MN. One brother, Donald (Nancy) Bernstein of Franklin, WI, a sister-in-law, Pat Wirth of Yuba City.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Russell and his wife, Mary Bernstein, brothers-in-law, Cecil Wirth and wife, Ann, and Richard Wirth.
Funeral services will be Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 12:30 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home with burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church – St. Martin Fund, or Hope Hospice. Arrangements under the direction of Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX.
