Lindsey Lee Smith met her Prince Charming, Jesus, face to face on January 25, 2013. A 2010 New Braunfels High School honor graduate, she was a junior public relations major at Abilene Christian University and earned her “ears” as a 2012 graduate of the Disney College Program. She was born on June 29, 1992 to her incredibly blessed parents, Todd & Linda Smith. Lindsey had two brothers whom she adored, Connor & Dawson. She was a star in the eyes of her grandparents: Joe & Jana Smith of New Braunfels, TX and John & Nancy LaBounty of Houston. Her grandmother, Barbara Brigance (Bobbie), along with her Great Grandparents, Ben & Loretta Smith (Papa and Gran) and Chet & Bonnie Norton (Papa and Mono) met her in heaven with open arms. She was loved dearly by her aunts and uncles: Trent & Tammy Smith of Azle, Tx, Errol & Amanda Brigance of San Antonio, Sean & Rosa Brigance of Lakehills, TX, and Sam Johnson & Kathleen LaBounty of Houston. Lindsey was the “casting director” of her first cousins: Peyton, Gunner, & Javin Smith; Grace & Corbett Brigance; Samantha, Izabel, Jake & Yzela Brigance and Trevor & Lexi Grace Johnson.
Lindsey had three great passions: her faith, the performing arts, and seeing the world. In her 20 short years, Lindsey had already seen 5 continents. Some of her favorite places included New Zealand, Ecuador, Machu Picchu, and Paris. She loved to “think globally.”
Lindsey lit up the stage whether singing or acting, starting at age 2 with mandatory family performances. She went on to star in many school and community theatre productions. Some of her favorites performances were in The Music Man, Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, Christmas Belles, Bye Bye Birdie, and Annie. She continued her love of performing at ACU as a member of the faith based drama troupe, Seekers of the Word.
Combining her love of the arts and her deep faith in God, she sang on the praise team with her father at the New Braunfels Church of Christ. She participated in Leadership Training for Christ in chorus, drama, Bible reading and her favorite: signing for the deaf. She loved Bandina Youth camp and was awarded Best camper in 2010. She also loved being a coach at TBarM sports camp. Lindsey touched so many lives in her brief time with us. Even though her life was cut short by a tragic car accident, to know her was to see a spark that only God could have ignited. Our family’s prayer is for those who met her to allow that spark to ignite in you and pass it on to others.
Services will be held Thursday, January 31 at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Zoeller Funeral Home from 5-9pm on Wednesday.
Donations can be made to the New Braunfels Church of Christ for the Lindsey Lee Smith Memorial Fund that will provide scholarships for ACU, student travel and church camps.
