It is with immense grief and sorrow to announce that our dearly beloved, Timothy Duane Matthews, 44, passed from this earth on April 17, 2026. Timothy’s untimely passing was a tremendous shock and his loss will be felt for decades to come. To all who knew him he was first and foremost the most loving, kind, caring, giving and empathetic individual and he had the most amazing laugh, it filled a room. Tim was a beloved and devoted husband, fierce father, dedicated son and brother, as well as an immensely loyal friend. If you were among the lucky ones to have ever had the pleasure of spending any amount of time with Tim, you know just how truly amazing he was. He was truly a singular individual and there will never be another like him.
Timothy was born in Little Rock, AR on July 20, 1981. Growing up he spent his youth cruising the town of Arkadelphia on his bike and trying not to get into too much trouble like most rambunctious young men. He became a Texas transplant at the age of 14, finishing his high school career graduating from Mathis High School before heading back to Arkansas for his continued education at Arkansas State University and then again returning to Texas thus beginning a nomadic lifestyle that would continue most of his life.
After working for a few years and welcoming his beautiful daughter Tim enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 2004 and he bravely served his country oversees and domestically until he was Honorably Discharged in 2008 due to injury. He was extremely proud of his service and continued his dedication to fellow service men by working for a VA Non-Profit raising money for veterans. His time in the Service took him abroad, Virginia, Florida and Louisiana where he welcomed his amazing son before returning to Texas. In 2009 Tim began his long career in the Oilfield where he started from the bottom and because of his work ethic and dedication, he worked his way up to Tool Specialist and Consultant, a position he was extremely proud of.
While working in South Texas he met the love of his life Michele in 2013 but life and circumstances would not allow them to finally be married until October 21, 2021 in Estes Park, CO. Their thirteen-year love story, dedication and friendship has been filled with tremendous highs and tremendous lows including life threatening illness, loss of loved ones, and everything in between but no matter the obstacles they always made it through, together. And even through the hard times they found so much joy and happiness. They travelled constantly exploring new places and going on amazing journeys with their kids, who he loved so very much and was extremely proud of, and niece and nephew and just simply enjoying their lives filled with laughter, games, singing, dancing and just plain adventure as often as they could. He truly was the definition of a family man.
Timothy is survived by his wife, Michele Matthews, his daughter Zoee Thacker, his son Thomas Thacker, his dad Glen Matthews and his beloved hound dog Maple. His siblings Ashley Thacker, JR Matthews, Marie O’Neal, and Deanna Glass. His aunts and uncles - John and Robyn Moore, Major and Lisa Russell, Royce and Christy Walker, Scott and Maranda Moore, JJ Fleming and his grandparents James and Betty Fleming. He is also survived by extended family and friends he considered family and there are a lot of you.
He is preceded in death by his mother, April Matthews and his grandparents Ed and Brenda Moore.
