He is survived by his four children: Reneé, Bob, Sharon, and Christine. Vince has eight grandchildren: John, Peri, Halie, Christopher, Sydney, Alexandria, Michael, and Jillian and has five great-grandchildren.
Vince usually referred to himself as a “dumb kid from New York City.” At 18, he met his bride of 63 years, Elly. His life was productive, filled with love, compassion, and accomplishment. Vince was a confidant, great listener, and coach to many. He was gentle, honest, and dedicated to his family. Vince was blessed and always thanked God for a wonderful life.
He went to work at MD Anderson in 1954 and opened the doors to the new hospital. He became a proud Texan and remained at MD Anderson for 38 years. He rose through the ranks at MD Anderson and retired as Physicist in charge of Dosimetry. He became an expert in his field, taught classes, and traveled the world representing MD Anderson. Vince has received many honors and awards in his career, including Honorary Lifetime Membership in the GIlbert Fletcher Society of Radiation Oncologist and the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists. He co-authored six textbooks and considered his work at MD Anderson a mission, instead of a job. Vince participated in many local clubs and professional associations, including Knights of Columbus, the Newcomers, coffee clubs, game clubs, was a world traveler, and loved people. He had an extended family of caregivers that helped him live the life he loves for the last several years. Vince loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Cooking was his passion, gardening, especially tomatoes and basil, was his love, and photography was a part of his DNA. His greatest love was our mom, Elly, whom he adored and often referred to her as his Cinderella. He associates this love with the word “always and forever” and leaves us to reunite with our mom in Heaven. Many thanks for your prayers and kind thoughts for our dad and family. We are comforted that he is with our mom and our Lord in Heaven.
