Will Dexter Nelson was born September 21st, 1960, to Clarence Richard Nelson and Frances Elizabeth Heard Nelson. He graduated from Spring High School in Spring, Texas, and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas. He married Janine Renee Richard on October 10th, 1992, in Reagan Wells, Texas. He worked as an engineer for Lockheed Martin for over 30 years before retiring.
Will was active in the lives of his sons, where he spent many an evening at the football field, baseball field, or watching the band. He spent many a day on camp outs as an adult leader with Boy Scout Troop 120 in Everman, Texas.
Will greatly enjoyed spending time with all his family. Whether he was Dad, Uncle Dexter, Papa Will, or just Will or Dexter, he was known to everyone. Most frequently, he would be found over the stove or the grill, working on making whatever that evening’s request for dinner was. Will was an active hunter and angler, who spent many days riding a tractor, filling feeders, helping watch kids at the house, and taking kids hunting. He always took great pride in the success of the group, and not only his own success.
Will is preceded in death by his wife Janine Nelson and parents Clarence and Frances Nelson.
Will is survived by his sons Andrew Nelson and fiancée Lindsay White of College Station, Texas; Jacob Nelson and wife Brianna Nelson of Reagan Wells, Texas; John Nelson and fiancée Savannah Foster of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Cindy Blue and husband Roger Blue of New Braunfels, Texas; sister Denise Stark and husband David Stark of New Braunfels, Texas; grandchildren Tyler, Calvin, James, Lillian, and Paisley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Reagan Wells Baptist Church at 11am Saturday February 15th 2025.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reagan Wells Baptist Church Shoebox Ministries, 8415 Ranch Rd 1051, Uvalde, Tx 78801, or to a charity of your choice.
