Adrienne B Fontaine, 83, wife of the late Norman J Fontaine, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2025. She was born June 8, 1941 in New Britain, a daughter of the late Armand and Elizabeth (Wood) Benoit. She most recently was a resident of Farmington. Adrienne had many jobs over the years but the one she enjoyed the most until she retired was selling Home Interiors. She had a flare for design and loved helping people decorate their homes. She met her beloved husband Norman in the early 70’s and shortly after meeting they discovered their love for camping, beginning with weekends spent at Black Rock State Park. Weekend camping trips and vacations to their favorite campgrounds were always enjoyed. She loved spending time with her family, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and friends.
In their retirement, Norm and Adrienne traveled cross country during the winter months for many years visiting their family in California and Oregon and attending many of their grandsons’ baseball and basketball games. Over the years, they visited all 50 states and spent several months in Maui, Hawaii before settling down in the two campgrounds—Roaring Brook in Stafford, CT for the spring and summer months and beautiful Corkscrew Woodlands in Estero, FL for the fall and winter months. They made many dear friends in both campgrounds over the years. She was active in many park activities and managed the camps logo product store in Florida. Family trips to Florida and the campground in Stafford are treasured memories of her grandchildren—Halloween trick or treating, Christmas in October, and sports weekends to name a few. She spent endless hours with her grandchildren building beautiful memories that will never be forgotten.
Adrienne had many talents. She always enjoyed all sorts of arts and crafts as well as ceramics. She took painting classes in Florida and her children are proud of the beautiful works of art hanging in their homes. She also had an amazing talent in crocheting and knitting. She made beautiful afghans, baby blankets and the most adorable baby clothes. She loved to read her collection of magazines and was a walking encyclopedia for everyday remedies. She loved watching, feeding, and reading about birds, in addition to chasing squirrels off her bird feeders. She had a green thumb and loved caring for her house and garden plants. She couldn’t resist a good puzzle or word search game. Another secret talent of hers, her purse. You NEVER wanted to travel without her purse because she had everything you could possibly need; plus, things you never thought you would!
Weekapaug (Westerly), RI had a very special place in Adrienne and Norm’s hearts. They spent many many summers visiting Norm’s family for summer vacations and spent 25 years at the same summer cottage with Cheryl and her family. Summer vacations in Rhode Island were full of wonderful family memories.
In addition to her husband and parents, Adrienne is predeceased by her brother, Rene Benoit, her stepson Norman Fontaine, Jr (Bingo), her brother-in-law, Ronald Fontaine and nephews Denis Fontaine and Kyle Quinn.
