Carl dedicated 27 years of his career to the State of Connecticut DEEP as a purchasing agent and was proud of his contribution to environmental issues. His work reflected his steady nature and his quiet commitment to doing things the right way.
Beyond his career, Carl found joy in life's simple pleasures; most of all, any time spent with family, enjoying long days at beaches and lakes body surfing and fishing, biking CT trails, playing "competitive" mini golf and back yard games, playing cards, board games and building Lincoln Logs with his grandsons, watching classic movies, consignment shopping for treasures and eating his favorite ice cream — moose tracks.
Carl was a true “car guy.” From tinkering to detailing, especially on a warm summer day, he would spend hours making them perfect. Our cars were always the shiniest, often noted by complete strangers, which he greatly appreciated.
He also cherished quiet moments with Roberta, having a morning cup of coffee on the back deck while enjoying his flower garden, listening to music especially Steely Dan, Sade, R&B and smooth jazz.
Carl will always be remembered for his many quotable quotes, which our family fondly refers to as “Papaisms,” as well as his hilarious habit of making up his own words to songs or even creating a silly song on the spot. And, of course, the very special Papa Dance — often done spontaneously, anywhere and anytime he felt the urge, but always upon our family’s request.
All these wonderful memories will comfort us and bring joy to those he loved and who loved him.
He will be deeply missed by many, including son-in-law Mitchell, grandsons Tyler and Jackson, daughter-in-law Christina, grandson Calvin, fur baby BurBur and extended family and friends.
Husband, dad, grandpa, papa — you were, and always will be, just what we wanted.
We love you always, your family.
Please join us in celebrating Carl's life on March 15, 2026 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM at the Delamar West Hartford (1 Memorial Rd., West Hartford, CT). Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and spend time together over light refreshments, including a few of Carl's favorite treats; the kind he always described as "so good" and would have to share.
The Memorial Parking Garage and metered street parking are available nearby for your convenience.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Hidden Treasures Adoption Agency of Kensington Connecticut or an animal shelter of your choice.
