

Hieronim Smiarowski, 85 of New Britain passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at hospital with his family by his side. He was a widower of Maria (Tyszka) Smiarowski. He was born in Olszewo Gora, Poland and was son to Adolf and Feliksa (Ekstowicz) Smiarowski, He was a loyal parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, member of the Holy Name Society. He retired from Textron in 1992.
He immigrated to US in 1964 with the help of his uncle Anthony Smiaroski for a better life for his family. Living in Deerfield, MA and then moving the family to New Britain – where he also met his cousin Zofia & Jan Szymanowski. Hieronim was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved his family, being surrounded by friends and entertaining guests. Nothing suited him more than enjoying his backyard on his bench, growing his garden, playing cards and cooking his favorite (rosol) chicken soup for everyone to enjoy. He was a loyal, humble, proud, funny, kind hearted man, who always put his family first. Life’s joys revolved around having his grandchildren and great grandchildren around him and going to social events such as dances and church functions. He will never be forgotten but always in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughter Irene and son-in-law Stanley Chlastawa of Kensington, and son Donald and daughter in law Heather Smiarowski of Branford. Also his grandchildren Joanne and her husband Eric Tokarzewski of Southington; Suzy and her husband Tomek Gujda of Rutherford, NJ; Zoe, Violet, Marina and Gavin Smiarowski of Branford; his great grandchildren, Owen and Samuel Tokarzewski, Alex, Luke, Julia and Tadzi Gujda.
He will be dearly missed by his companion Stanislawa Lozowski, Also survived by sisters-in-law, Czeslawa Smiarowski, Irena Suchodolski, Stanislawa Rudzinski and Jadwiga Sokolowski; his godchildren Heronim Cwalinski, Mieczyslaw Smiarowski and Ewa Eilert and many nieces and nephews in US and Poland.
He is predeceased by his wife of 48 years Maria, daughter Wieslawa (Vivian) , his siblings Teresa Cwalinska (his baby sister who died November 19th), brothers, Jozef, Antoni, Franciszek, Kazimierz and Jan; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; Jozef Rudzinski, Grazyna & Roman Kulaj, Alfred Suchodolski and Mieczyslaw Sokolowski.

Funeral services will be on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 8:30 AM at New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30 Am at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St. New Britain. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, December 6th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home,
