

Jean B. (Baretta) Russell, 89, beloved wife of Ronald R. Russell went home to be with her Lord on July 20, 2025. Born in New Britain, CT on January 20, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Adele (Negrola) Baretta.
Jean grew up in New Britain, and studied at the college then known as “Teacher’s College of Connecticut,” graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, with a major in mathematics.
In 1959, she married the love of her life, Ronald Russell, and they moved to North Adams, Massachusetts, Where She worked at the Sprague Electric Company in the math services department.
Years later, she returned to Connecticut with Ron to raise their two daughters, Sharon and Susan. Jean later worked in the Plainville Public schools for a number of years as a tutor. She became an avid hiker, climbing Mount Washington and hiking several portions of the Appalachian Trail. Jean also enjoyed reading, music (especially the Bee Gees), and spending time with her family.
She was a supervisor and Sunday School teacher for several years at Bristol Bible chapel, where she faithfully served and worshipped for many years.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Ronald R. Russell and their two daughters, Sharon (Michael) Dennehy of Forrest, Virginia, and Susan (Charles) Owens of Coventry, CT. She also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren who were a great source of joy to her.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 9-10am at the New Britain Memorial- Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, CT., a memorial service will follow from 10am-12pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
