Joaquin “Jack” was a man whose hands built not only homes, but also a legacy of love, service, and devotion to family.
Jack was a master carpenter, and through his craft he left an indelible mark on Connecticut. Many houses still stand strong because of his skill, patience, and dedication. But his work was more than wood and nails—it was a reflection of who he was. He built with care, with precision, and with pride, and that same care was felt by everyone who knew him. Just as he shaped sturdy homes, he shaped the lives around him, offering us strength, stability, and love.
Jack also proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. His sense of duty, discipline, and loyalty extended far beyond his service years—those same values guided him throughout his life.
At the heart of Jack’s life was his family. He was a devoted son to his parents, Teresa and Joaquin, honoring them not only with respect, but with the way he lived—hardworking, kind, and steadfast. He was also a loving brother to his sister Teresa, with whom he shared a lifelong bond rooted in loyalty and affection.
Jack is survived by his sister, Teresa Ayr; his nieces, Patricia Teodore and Denise Spaman; his nephew-in-law, Gary Teodore; and his great-niece and great-nephew, Jessica and Lee Teodore. To all of us, he was more than family—he was a source of wisdom, comfort, and unwavering love.
What made Jack truly special was his generosity. He never hesitated to step in and help families in need, offering his time, skills, and heart without asking for anything in return. He lived by example, showing us that true strength lies in compassion and that the greatest gift we can give is to help one another.
Those who knew Jack will remember his quiet strength, his humility, and his deep sense of responsibility. He didn’t seek recognition for his work or his sacrifices—he simply gave of himself, day after day, in ways that made all the difference. He was the type of man you could depend on, someone who believed in doing things the right way, both in his craft and in his life.
While today we grieve his passing, we also celebrate the life he built—one filled with meaning, service, and integrity. Jack showed us that a life well-lived is not about accolades, but about leaving behind something lasting. For him, that legacy lives on in the houses he built, in the values he instilled, and in the love and kindness he shared with his family and community.
As we say goodbye, let us carry forward his example: to work with our hands, but also with our hearts; to stay loyal to family; to serve others generously; and to live with humility and kindness. That is how Jack would want to be remembered, and that is how his memory will continue to bless our lives.
Rest peacefully, Jack. Your work here is done, but the foundation you laid—in service, in family, and in love—will stand forever.
A mass in Joaquin's memory will be celebrated on Sunday, November 23rd at St. Joachim Parish/St. Mary Church 544 Main St., New Britain, CT 06051 at 9:00am.
