Jozef Kanar, 86, of New Britain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving and devoted family on July 25, 2018. He was born in Poland a son of the late Jan and Helena Kanar and came to the United States in 1973. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a Machinist at Atlantic Tool Manufacturing Company. He was an ardent Polish National Soccer fan. He enjoyed bicycling, keeping physically fit and repairing bicycles. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved dogs and the great outdoors. His beloved wife Helena (Skolska) predeceased him. He is survived by his daughter Ann Sawicki and her husband Marc of New Britain, two sons, Ryszard Kanar and his wife Zofia of New Britain and Henryk Kanar and his wife Teresa of Newington, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by another son Wieslaw Kanar.
Funeral services will be Monday at 8:30AM from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial, 9:30AM in Sacred Heart Church, Broad St., burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Burritt St., all in New Britain.
