

Lena F. (Zanetti) Bessoni, 84, widow of Raymond Bessoni since May 25, 2007, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, after a long illness, at Arden Court of Farmington, with her family by her side. Lena was born June 25, 1930 in New Britain, was daughter to the late Alexander and Mary (Galimberti) Zanetti and had previously lived in Newington. Lena was a parishioner of St. Ann Church. She attended local schools, graduated New Britain High School. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling, playing cards and was a former member of the Italian Junior League. Lena had many special talents which included being a seamstress as needed, mending and sewing anyone's garments that were in need of repair, as well as, creating beautiful drapes and curtains. She also had the intricate skill of knitting and crocheting, creating her own masterpieces to be shared with her family and had learned how to quilt, cross stitch and even took up painting and ceramics. There was nothing this beautiful woman would not try and exceed at. Her devotion of love also showed in her cooking, from her home made meatballs and sauce to her delicious apple pies, everything was beyond delicious. She will be sorely missed and remembered for how she spoiled her family with her delicious meals, her beautiful smiles and love.She is survived and will be dearly missed by her three children: David Bessoni of Cromwell, Mark Bessoni and his wife Diane of Newington and Deborah Lathrop and her husband James of Unionville, a sister-in law, Lois Zanetti, her eight sweet grandchildren: Jesse, Marty, Michael, Stacey, Jimmy, Kristin, Jessica and Michael, 4 precious great grandchildren: Devan, CJ, Christian and Kaitlyn, a niece, Leann and nephew, Michael. She was also predeceased by her brothers, John and Joseph Zanetti. Funeral services will begin Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 9:00am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by her funeral liturgy at 10AM in St. Ann Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation hours will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
