Lesia was born in Kielce, Poland and was excited to immigrate to the United States at age 19, moving to Hartford, CT and later New Britain where she met Szczepan in English class where she once defended him against the teacher which led to rides home from school and dates at the drive-in. They later married and had 3 children.
She was mathematically inclined, very precise and was proud to be employed as a quality control inspector of airplane parts. At one point Lesia and Szczepan worked in the same factory for 10 years which led to some heated discussions when she sent his parts back or “scrapped” them altogether; but they enjoyed sharing coffee on the long car rides to and from work. When not working, they worked some more, building and remodeling multi-family homes in the New Britain area.
Lesia was a great partner, a dedicated and hard-working wife, mother and grandmother. She always gave the best advice, whether you wanted to hear it or not, but was usually right. She loved Elvis music and the neighbors learned to love it too.
She is survived by her 3 children, her sons Robert Rostkowski and his wife Evelyn of Farmington. Mark Rostkowski and his wife Kathy of New Britain and daughter Lydia Rostkowski of New Britain along with her grandchildren Cynthia Zaleski, Sabrina, Aidan, Sasha, and Kole Rostkowski. She is also survived by a sister Teresa Mitusina of Wethersfield and Kazimierz Skrzyniarz in Poland as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Edward Skrzyniarz and parents Jan and Władysława Skrzyniarz.
Services will be at New Britain Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday May 26th 2015. Calling hours from 8AM-9:30AM at the funeral home followed by mass at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St. NB. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hartford Hospital in her name. Please say a prayer for her or perform a random act of kindness.
