

Paolo Burgio, 89, of New Britain, joined the Lord in Heaven peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was the loving and devoted husband of 67 years to his soulmate, Maria (Pirruccio) Burgio, always remaining by his side. He was born October 8,1934 in Solarino, Italy, son of the late Paolo and Giuseppina (Oliva) Burgio.
Paolo was known for having a heart of gold and full of devotion as a husband, father and grandfather. He was a man of extreme dedication to his family, career and passions. He attended schools in Italy and moved to New Britain in 1956 where he resided for over 65 years and immediately began to start an amazing life for his family. He worked for Stanley Works as a machine leader for 41 years before retiring. He was a parishioner of St. Ann's Church, New Britain.
Paolo was an extremely proud family man, who loved his family above all else and cherished every moment spent with them. He was truly admired for his great knowledge and love of hobbies, including gardening and tending to his infamous chickens. He enjoyed every single moment of spreading his love through these hobbies, ensuring everyone he knew enjoyed his tomatoes or eggs. This, in addition to his strength, courage and never ending love for life, will leave an extraordinary legacy for his family.
In addition to his loving wife Maria, he is survived by his children who he cherished and will be dearly missed by: Josephine Golino and husband Salvatore of New Britain, Nella Fragione and husband Salvatore of Melbourne, Florida and Linda Trigilio and husband Gino of Kensington. He was a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren; Diana Fragione, Laura Fragione and companion Michael Pacholski, Elizabeth Lavertu and husband Shawn, Jennifer Salcedo and husband Michael, Melissa Glowka and husband Joseph, Anthony Golino and wife Justene, Rose Golino and companion Corey Jefferson. He also leaves eight great-grandchildren, soon to be nine. He also leaves two brothers; Nello Burgio and wife Yoli of Italy, Salvatore Burgio of Bristol, a sister Connie Calafiore and husband Pasquale of Farmington, a sister-in law; Janice Burgio, two brother-in-laws; Salvatore Pirruccio and wife Pina of Italy and Paul Pirruccio of Bristol, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Carmela Riggio, brother Corrado Burgio, sister-in-law Margaret Burgio, sister-in-law Rosa LaRosa and husband Angelo and brother-in-law Angelo Pirruccio.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11am at the Church of St. Ann, 95 North St., New Britain, CT. Following mass, he will be entombed in the St. Mary Cemetery Mausoleum, New Britain. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, January 9 from 9-10:30am at the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain, CT. Masks are requested.
