

Rene Gerard Domingue 81, retired Gunnery SGT, US Marines of New Britain died Monday, May 4, 2015. He was born in Holyoke, MA and was the son of the late Gerard and Rena (Columbe) Domingue. Rene attended local schools and proudly served in the Marines for 20 years under 5 presidents. Rene volunteered during the Korean Conflict and served a tour of duty during the Vietnam Conflict, during his time of service he served as a Combat Engineer. All of his children were born during his time in the military and are all very proud of him and his service to our country. He was a Marine for life; his moto was GOD and COUNTRY.He was a family man, proud and courageous; he enjoyed helping people, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. As a young student in Lincoln School Walt Disney visited the school and showed the students how to draw Mickey Mouse, a skill he passed on his whole life to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Lucille (Celella) Domingue and five beloved children, Doreen Radcliff; Michelle Farr; Michael Domingue and his wife, Bonnie; Monica Domingue and her husband Bill Carbonell; Claudia DeAngelis and her husband, John. He leaves two brothers and a sister, Ken Domingue; Janice McDonald and her husband, Jack; and Ronald Domingue. He is also survived by two sisters in law, Marge Celella and Angela Herkert and was preceded by a son in law, Thomas Farr. He leaves 15 beloved grandchildren and 11 precious great grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 10:00AM at the funeral home followed by the funeral liturgy at 11:00 AM at St Jerome Church. 1010 Slater Rd. New Britain. Burial with military honors will follow at the State Veterans Cemetery, in Middletown.
