Alex Novick, 39, passed away surrounded by love, with his mother and two sisters by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He is survived by his mother, Susan Danahy; sisters, Holly Novick and Joanie Danahy; father and stepmother, Bob and Alyson Novick; and countless friends and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Alex was an original. A completely self-made man who lived his life with spirit, humor, enthusiasm, warmth, and heartfelt compassion. He did not have a blueprint for the kind of man he became, he created it himself, choosing generosity, strength, authenticity, self-possession, and integrity as his guideposts. He was a man of tact, with a deep respect for the humanity of others and the well-being of animals.
Incredibly hardworking and bright, Alex graduated cum laude from Mercy College and went on to build a successful career running his own audio engineering and music production business, all while working full time in live television for CBS Sports.
Music was Alex’s very heartbeat. From a young age, he played numerous instruments and performed in multiple bands. Through his professional work, he composed his own music, and nurtured the creativity and expression of others, leaving behind an enduring legacy of connection and artistry. Alex loved history, culture, philosophy, comedy, animals, trying food from around the world, and art in all its forms. Most of all, he valued the simplest and most important things of life, like a beautiful day, a trip to the farmstand, and time spent together with the people he cared for.
As evidenced by the outpouring of love and stories from those who knew him, Alex meant the world to his friends. He was the person you could count on to understand, support, and encourage you when you needed it most, and to make you laugh hysterically with his quick, clever humor.
Alex was a gentleman who held deep respect, devotion, and admiration for the women in his life, family, friends, and partners alike. He was the man of the family and the protector of his mother and sisters, for whom he would do anything. Stoic and strong, yet incredibly tender, Alex’s first thoughts and concerns were always for his loved ones.
His spirit will live on eternally in the lives he touched, through the memories of his love, wisdom, and humor, and through his music.
