Brett James Kelly, 58, of Saddle River, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Brett grew up in South Hackensack, where he formed lifelong friendships that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He graduated from Hackensack High School in 1985 and went on to earn his degree from William Paterson University in 1989. As a young man, Brett spent his summers in Ortley Beach, where he found joy in fishing, surfing, and jet skiing. It was there, along the shore he loved so much, that he built cherished friendships and met the love of his life, Lisa.

From an early age, Brett was known for his strong work ethic, beginning with his childhood paper route and growing into a lifelong passion for the bar and restaurant business. He worked his way through numerous establishments, eventually achieving his dream in 1995 when he became the proud owner of La Terrazza Restaurant in New City, NY. Brett poured his heart into his work and his customers, creating not just a business, but a place where people felt at home. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, always greeting others with warmth, humor, and a genuine smile.

Brett will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his generosity, and the way he always put others before himself. He had an infectious energy that drew people in and made every gathering brighter—he truly was the life of every party.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Lisa (Viccaro); his cherished daughter, Savanna, who shared his love of music, dancing, and playful jokes—often at Lisa’s expense; his loving parents, Richard and Judy Kelly; his brothers, Brian and Lance Kelly, and many more treasured in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Brett’s life was defined by his deep devotion to his family, his enduring friendships, and the La Terrazza staff he proudly called his second family. He brought joy, laughter, and light to all who knew him, and his presence will be profoundly missed. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the St. Augustine's Church (118 S Main St, New City, NY 10956).
