Charles Joseph Anthony Paterno (1948-2024) was born in The Bronx, NY to Francis and Theresa Paterno; also raised by Henrietta Paterno. He was best known for the way that he loved. At a moment’s notice, he would drop everything to be there to lend a helping hand.
Charlie met the love of his life, Nina, at a wedding. It was love at first sight. He asked Nina to marry him on their second date. Excited to start their new lives together, the two married and began their family. He is survived by his wife Nina. His daughters: Jaclyn (Steve) Bernstein, Dolores Paterno, Amanda (Vinny) Mastrullo, and Alexandra (Victor) Rivera.
Though he loved being a girls’ dad, his favorite roll was that of a girls Grandpa. He treasured his time with his granddaughters: Bella and Mikalya, Josephine and Gia, Luciana and Francesca, and last but not least Layla.
Everyone who knew him knew how much he loved hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and sports. There wasn’t a Giants or Yankees game he missed. Charlie was a jack of all trades; Master of them all. Nothing he couldn’t fix without a pair of Vice-Grips and a roll of Duct Tape. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love for his family.
