Charles N. Tammara (Charlie) of Pearl River, NY, 77 years old, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024 after a valiant battle with mantle cell lymphoma. Charlie was born in 1947 in Brooklyn, NY to Nicholas and Helen Tammara. He just celebrated 52 years of marriage to his wife Virginia (nee Weidel). He was a graduate of Rice High School and Iona College, and spent six years in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Charlie spent his career in the shipping industry, retiring as Chief Financial Officer from Penfield Marine in 2014 and was a member of the Connecticut Maritime Association. Aside from shipping, Charlie’s passion was cars, enjoying his Corvette and Nascar races. He is survived by his wife Virginia, daughters Christine Tammara and Ann Marie Finley (Stephen), and five grandchildren (Clare, Jack, Lucy, Vincent and Michael). He is also survived by his sisters (Maryann Ferrara (Tony) and Jeanne Mastromarino), nephew Daniel Ferrara (Yuki) and niece Helen Milisits (Michael) and their families. He was predeceased by his brother-in law Martin Mastromarino.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 22 at 10am, at St. Aedan’s Church, Pearl River, followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, NY.
