Cruz Marie Gonzalez, born in 1949 in Manhattan to Deogracia and Josephine Ramos, passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Cruz was the fourth of five children, all of whom—Manuel Ramos, Irma Ramos, Dolores Ramos, and Deogracia “Ray” Ramos Jr.—preceded her in passing.
Cruz is survived by her husband of 55 years, Nestor Gonzalez, and her beloved daughters, Lissette Gonzalez and Vanessa Gonzalez. She leaves behind five cherished grandchildren—Jose N. Vazquez, Brittany J. Vazquez, Jesse A. Vazquez, Brandon T. Vasquez, and Matteo R. Gonzalez-Zimmerman—as well as many nieces nephews & great-nieces and great-nephews who admired her deeply and loved her through her final moments.
Cruz was known for her infectious sense of humor, her love of music and dancing, and her kind, giving spirit. She was thoughtful in all she did, always putting others before herself. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved with every part of her heart. She raised two successful daughters and was an extraordinary grandmother—one who showed up, supported, celebrated, and gave endlessly.
Through every challenge life presented, Cruz’s love never wavered. Her strength anchored her family, and her warmth created a home that was always full of laughter, music, and comfort. She was a loyal friend to many and left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Cruz’s legacy lives on in the hearts she touched, the family she adored, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
