Daniel Joseph O'Kane

Daniel J. O’Kane, Sr. passed away on February 24, 2013. Dan grew up in the Bronx, New York the oldest son of Irish immigrants Patrick O’Kane and Julia (Cogger) O’Kane (7 Children). Dan served his country proudly in the United States Army in the early 50’s as part of the post WWII Army of Occupation. After returning home from service, he married the love of his life Patricia (Pat) in 1955, started a family and continued his education, graduating from Fordham University in 1958. Married for 57 years and the father of three sons, Dan settled in New City with his family.

Dan spent his professional career in accounting and finance within the broadcast advertising industry retiring as CFO of MMT Sales in 1995. In retirement, Dan traveled extensively with his wife Pat and spent quality time with his family including his 8 grandchildren. Additionally Dan remained active in his Church along with numerous other community and charitable causes while continuing to consult on projects including serving as a professional mentor to his sons, and this was done always with a smile on his face.

Dan is survived by Patricia (McMahon), Daniel J O’Kane Jr. Daniel J O’Kane III, Kimberly O’Kane, Michael O’Kane, Jacqueline O’Kane, Kevin O’Kane, Catherine (Bibeau) O’Kane, Corinne O’Kane, Courtney O’Kane, Kelsey O’Kane, Brian O’Kane and Alex O’Kane.

Family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Michael J. Higgins Inc. Funeral mass will take place on Thursday at 11:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery.
