May 7, 1954 – November 9, 2024
Diana St. John, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Diana was born on May 7, 1954, to Americo and Jean Martinelli. She was a warm, loving presence in the lives of everyone she knew.
Diana shared a beautiful life with her devoted and loving husband of 48 years Marty, with whom she built a family filled with joy and laughter. Together, they raised two sons, Mike and Dave, who were her pride and joy. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent together.
Diana's love extended beyond her own children to countless others through her long career teaching in Pelham. She was a dedicated and nurturing educator, and her involvement with the school's mentorship program earned her the affectionate nickname "Mama Bear." It was a title she wore proudly, embodying her protective, caring nature toward the teachers she mentored.
Her passion for teaching was rivaled only by her love for her dogs, whom she adored throughout the years. Her home was always complete with a wagging tail and happy barks, a testament to her kind and gentle spirit.
But it was her role as "Grandma" that brought Diana the greatest joy. Her grandchildren—Ella, Abby, Dani, Casey, and Joey—were the light of her life. She treasured the time spent with them, offering wisdom, comfort, and endless love. Whether it was cheering them on at school events, hosting family gatherings, or simply sharing quiet moments together, Diana’s heart was always with her grandchildren.
Diana's legacy is one of warmth, love, and dedication to family, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.
Diana is survived by her husband Marty, sons Mike and Dave, daughter in-laws Devon and Lisa, grandchildren Ella, Abby, Dani, Casey and Joey, and her sister Joanne.
A memorial service for Diana will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to ALS United Greater New York.
