Elizabeth Catherine Ostrowski (née Tooma) was born in Yonkers, NY on April 4, 1923. Before her work in the Yonkers Public School System, Elizabeth was a homemaker. She later worked as a teacher's aide in the school system where she helped individual students grow and retired from this position. During her time in the school system, Elizabeth worked with ESL and special education students and provided individualized support to each of them. She found great joy in this work and made a significant impact on the lives of her students.
Elizabeth was a well-known figure in her family for taking numerous pictures at every family event, so much so that she earned the nickname "family paparazzi. She also had a passion for knitting and crocheting, spending hours creating cozy blankets for her loved ones and even donating many to those in need. Elizabeth's love for her family and her desire to share a good meal with everyone will be deeply missed.
Elizabeth is survived by her two sons: Alexander, whose wife Sharon has passed away, and John, who is married to Anne Marie. She is also survived by her daughter Mary Graves, who is married to Robert Graves, and her granddaughter Kim Marie Ostrowski, as well as many nieces and nephews. Sadly, Elizabeth's grandson, John Kelly (son of John Ostrowski), passed away before her. Elizabeth was also preceded in death by her siblings: Lulu, Anna, Mary, and Theresa, as well as her brothers George and Thomas.
