
Eugene Olsson, 91, passed away on January 10, 2026 in The Villages, Fla. He was surrounded by family and so much love.
Son of Charles and Ethel Olsson, born on April 21, 1934, Gene grew up in the Bronx, N.Y and is predeceased by his parents, brothers Jack and Robert and sister Dorothy.
Gene served in the United States Army from 1954-1957. Upon returning from Korea, he joined the New York City Police Department where he served for 22 years. After retirement, Gene had a second career as a private investigator.
In 1960, Gene married the love of his life, Rita (Nolan) and together they raised their four children in New City, New York. He is survived by his wife Rita, son Charles(Janet), and daughters Nancy Hofsiss, Maryann Aaron (Mark) and Jennifer Sullivan (Danny). Gene had seven grandchildren; Dylan(Ashley), Keri (Steve), Elizabeth, David, Grace, Emily and Ben. His four great grandchildren are Landon, Savannah, Hailey and Christopher. Gene cherished time with his family. He was a very proud Dad, Grandpa and Ggpa.
Gene was a golfer and loved nothing more than a round with good friends. He was a great cook, avid mystery reader and devoted watcher of Jeopardy. Gene was a man of quiet integrity whose legacy will live on in all who were honored to call him family or friend.
A funeral mass will be held on January 24th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s Church in New City, New York. Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery.
