Frank Watkins of Pomona, NY, 85 years old, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022. Frank was a lifelong resident of Pomona and a local businessman. He was born on April 4, 1936 to Gertrude and Frank Watkins. He graduated from Congers High school and began working as a carpenter. Frank joined the Marine Corps and although honorably discharged years later, remained involved with his beloved corps throughout his life; once a Marine, always a Marine. Frank married the greatest woman and best mother on earth, Ellen Watkins (maiden name Elbert), on October 25th, 1964 and began a family. Frank grew his construction and development business while Ellen did the hard work of raising two boys. Frank was fortunate to have an amazing partner, James (Jimmy) Hopper on many projects throughout his career, and to have Eric and Heidi Heyman to watch grow and laugh with on many family adventures over the years. Frank enjoyed telling jokes and stories, doing for others, spending time with his grandchildren, and taking his dog Sophie with him everywhere. Frank was predeceased by his loving wife Ellen and is survived by his two sons Brian and Craig, his daughter-in-law Lorraine, four grandchildren (Reese, Chase, Blake and Logan), and his mildly crazy but sweet English Springer Spaniel, Sophie. He gave people opportunities, taught people what it meant to be dedicated, and encouraged people to laugh. He will be missed by many. Marine, at ease.
Family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marines Memorial Foundation, or Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
