George Zacharopoulos

George Zacharopoulos of New City, NY, passed away on April 27, 2025, at the age of 89. He is survived by his daughter Melina, his two sons Nicholas and Theodore, his son-in-law Steven, and his daughter-in- law Christina. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Vincent, Stella, Dominic, Sophia, Joan, George, and Eliana. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Joan.

George was born in Athens, Greece, to Nicholas and Melpomeni Zacharopoulos on August 2, 1935. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 20 to study physics and electrical engineering. He went on to build a distinguished career in medical physics, eventually serving as Chief of Physics at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York City. Together with his wife, he founded several successful companies in the field of medical physics and radiation oncology medical devices. He retired in 2019 and continued to passionately pursue his love of watercolor painting.

A Church Service will be held on Monday, May 12, at 10:00 AM at St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, located at 1 Marycrest Road, West Nyack, NY 10994, followed by burial at Gethsemane Cemetery on Rockland Lake Road in Congers, NY.
