Georgina Clarke (nee Corcoran) passed away on Friday December 23, 2016 at the age of 82. Georgina was at home and had her children and loved ones at her side when God took her home. Georgina was born in County Galway, Ireland on April 10, 1934 to Peter and Nora Corcoran. She was one of 8 children and the importance of family was the foundation to Georgina's life. In 1954, Georgina journeyed to the United States to start a new adventure. Upon arriving in New York she began her lifelong career doing what she loved, caring for children.
Georgina met John Clarke (a New York native) and married October 2, 1965 . They moved from the Bronx and settled in New City in 1972, where they remained. Her home was a hub for children, grandchildren and the extended family she created over the 60 years she took care of children. Her children were her passion...her children, her grandchildren and the small army of children she nurtured and cared for and raised like no other could.
Her family was always her top priority, both here and in Ireland. She was also devoted to God and was a long-time parishioner of St. Augustine’s in New City. Her nurturing quality, candidness, quick wit, sense of humor and unwavering love were admired by all. Georgina is survived by her husband John, her daughter, Noreen Clarke, and her three sons: Christopher Clarke (Karen), Declan Lynch (Maude) and Terence Lynch (Kristen). She also had her devoted lifelong friend, Ottilie Jarmel Tracy (Craig) who was as much a daughter to her as any. Cherished grandmother to her beloved grandchildren: Shane, Kiersten, Cavan, Sawyer, Benjamin, Paige, Brubeck, Hawking, as well as Ottilie's sons Neal and Lucas. She is also survived by her sister Vera Parker, and brother and sister in law Andrew and Kitty Farrelly, as well as many, many cousins, nieces and nephews here and abroad. Georgina will be deeply missed by all of her family, friends and those that she has touched by her love and devotion.
Family will receive friends at Higgins Funeral Home in New City on Tuesday from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at St. Augustine Church in New City at 11am followed by interment at St. Anthony Cemetery in Nanuet.
