Jan was always a welcome patron those rare times when she came into O'Donoghue's with her friend, Claudia. Besides being personable and friendly, we workers learned -- in one of those social moments when the music gets people dancing -- that she embodied the lost art of "following" the lead in traditional ballroom steps. She had the skill to make a clumsy partner feel as though he knew what he was doing, and would always tell him what a wonderful dancer he was.  She was just that kind of generous person.

Too many great memories with Jan over the years to mention here. From school days, to marriages, to children and beyond, each one fond and treasured by all of us. With our deepest sympathies to the Heuffel and Paulsen families on their tremendous loss which words cannot describe. Congers has lost one of the great ones...

I knew Jan as she was a loved and respected dental assistant to my brother George Menken for more than 30 years. We all knew about her daughters and family. She was so proud of her girls. She always handled things calmly and efficiently.  After my brother retired and even after he passed away we would meet for lunch and catch up and talk about the past. Her passing is a terrible shock. She will be missed.

Running into you over the past few years was a complete joy! I will cherish those recent memories as much as our high school memories.  You were timeless, age had no bearing on your person and a genuine lady inside and out.

I’m truly saddened to hear about Jans passing. I work in the same complex as her and she was always so friendly and kind. I will miss seeing her. May she Rest in our Heavenly Fathers arms

Jan was an amazing person who I loved being around! She was funny,  straight forward, so dedicated to her family and friends and always so loving.  I will miss her very much. My heart is very heavy. This is such a great loss! My condolences and prayers to Jan’s family and all who loved her. 🙏xo

Jan is one of the very few people growing up that called me ‘Elizabeth’….she’d always say ‘I’m probably the only other person besides your mom who calls you ‘Elizabeth’ cause that’s my daughters name too!’ …..She was right about that! Sending thoughts and prayers to her family & friends in this time of sorrow 🙏🏻
