Jean Ann Krivin, originally from Oswego, NY and an admired teacher at Clarkstown Schools, West Nyack NY, entered into eternal life, surrounded by love, at Cornerstone Hospice in the Villages, Florida Saturday May 31, 2025. At the age of 93, she was a strong leader of her family. She is survived by her sister CJ Sutherland, sister in-law Rusty Meyerson, 2 sons Craig and Gary, and their families as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jean was born of parents Carolyn Charlotte Hilbert and Loyal Albert Myers. Jean married Naval Airman Sydney M. Krivin in August of 1956. She received her teaching degree graduating cum laude at nearby State University of Oswego. She pursued her career in teaching along with raising her sons, earning a Masters degree and managing family events and finances conservatively.
She and Syd harvested their years of hard work by planning their retirement in Florida, leveraging AmTrak's Auto train and checking out different delightful areas of Florida along with their friends and relatives. Finally they settled on a beautiful home in the Villages with nearby friends who shared Syd's love of flying and with Jean's sister and children settling nearby.
Regrettably. Syd passed away from an auto accident in 2019.
With her characteristic determination. Jean determinedly overcame breast cancer in 2014. Unfortunately in the fall of 2024 it returned with a vengeance eventually getting it's way.
In a private ceremony, Jean will be laid to rest aside the love of her life, Syd, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paramus NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to the American Cancer Society.
