

John J. Fredericks passed away peacefully with his family by his side on July 21, 2025. He was 92 years old. Born on the east side of Manhattan to parents George and Josephine. He met his wife Mary at fifteen and they quickly became sweethearts.
John was stationed in Germany during the Korean War serving in the US Army as a Corporal in the 35th Infantry Scout Dog Platoon. John and Mary were married in 1956 and enjoyed 62 years together.
They started their family in the Bronx, moved to Massachusetts, and settled in New City in 1971 where they raised their three children. John excelled in his career in sales with Crown Cork and Seal, Sherwin Williams, and U.S. Can, where he retired as regional sales director in the container division.
Family, faith and N.Y. Yankees were some of his favorite pastimes. He was a parishioner at St. Augustine's Catholic Church for 54 years where he filled many roles in the church ministries. He was always smiling and making everyone laugh with his quick humor and generous heart.
He was known as the patriarch of the family, narrator of our stories, and a planner of great vacations. His wisdom, comic relief, and loving spirit will never be forgotten. John was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary(Vella), in 2018, and his younger sister Mary Alba in 2019. He is survived by his children George Fredericks (Donna),of Malta NY, Janet Dietrich (Glenn) of New City, and John Fredericks (Kathleen) also of New City. His nine grandchildren, Sarah(Carmine), Kristen (Chris), Kaitlyn (C.J.), Tim (Maureen), Stephen (Lauren), Jack, Cole, Matthew, and Kyle, and 12 great grandchildren. Also survived by his older brother George Fredericks of Groveland, MA.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Michael J. Higgins funeral home 321 South Main St. in New City from 3-7 pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at St. Augustine's Church 118 South Main St. New City at 11:15 am. Burial will be at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet NY.
