

Joseph Stanley Schuck of New City, NY, 90 years old, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017. Joe was born on May 8, 1927 to Maria Walters and Johannes Schuck in Elizabeth, NJ. Joe grew up in New York City. As a child his family had a summer place in New City near New City Park Lake. It was there that he met the love of his life, Henny Cyler, a local New City girl. He and Henny married on April 3, 1948. They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in April. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during WWII in the Occupational Forces in Germany. He went on an Honor Flight to Washington DC in April, proudly accompanied by his granddaughter, Capt. Kristen Bell Johnson. Joe was a member of the Congers I Senior Citizens and the American Legion, William E. Debevoise Post 1682 in New City.
Joe partnered with his father in law in an excavation and paving business (Cyler & Schuck) for many years, he was also a builder, one of which was the home where he and Henny raised their family and still reside. He went on to Corporate construction and was a Construction Manager for Macro, Gaylords, Toys R Us, and K-Mart until his retirement in 1995.
Joe’s family was his heart and soul and his greatest joys came from them. He is survived by his wife Henny and four children. Craig (Kathryn – deceased) of Alexandria, VA; Diane (Jim) Patton of Belleville, MI; Liesel (Richard) Bell of New City; Joseph (Yvonne) Schuck of Plymouth, MI. His cherished grandchildren always made him smile. Lauren (Stanley) Maragos, Michael (Amy – deceased) Schuck, Richard (Ashley) Bell, Jennifer Bell (fiancé John Muller); Kristen (Andrew) Johnson; Samantha and Bianca Schuck; David (Debi) Bell, Matthew (Crystal) Bell, and Ty (Sheila) Patton. He always lit up when the great-grandchildren were either on the phone or with him. Cassidy and Dylan Schuck; Zoe Maragos, Sofia Bell, and Ryann, Megan, and Matthew Patton. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Augustine’s Church, New City, followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign War, Kansas City, MO ; Hi-Tor Animal Care Center, Pomona, NY.
