After her high school graduation, because of the Depression, she was one of many young adults who left the upstate community in search of employment in downstate New York.
Kae found employment at Rockland State Hospital in Orangeburg, N.Y., and worked there joining some of her siblings. While there she met her husband to be, Herbert A Pratt. After their marriage in Pearl River, N.Y. in 1938, the young couple remained in Rockland County and raised their family in Bardonia, N.Y.
During those years Kae served as a school secretary for the Nanuet and Clarkstown School Districts. Kae and Herb were very active in their community and both were longtime members of Germonds Presbyterian Church.
After Herb’s passing in 1976, Kae traveled and lived in North Carolina and South Carolina where she found time to work on her many hobbies. Kae was a voracious reader and an accomplished artist. She displayed her talents in many types of media which included: oil and watercolor painting, sketching, calligraphy, ceramics, wood carving and all types of writing. Each family member proudly owns at least one of her creations! She also loved the challenge of word puzzles of all kinds, especially crossword. Her vocabulary was extensive. She loved playing cards and using her Samsung tablet which she named “Sammy” to browse, text and email right up until her passing.
Kae also spent much of her time studying the Bible and attended Bible studies whenever she could. She was a person of deep faith and prayer.
