

Lawrence served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He fought in the North African military campaigns of World War II, which were waged between September 13, 1940, and May 13, 1943. Lawrence also fought on the beaches of Anzio, Italy in 1944 where he was awarded (2) Battle Stars on an EAMETO Ribbon and the Purple Heart.
Lawrence worked at the Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, NY as a Laboratory Technician for many years. He loved skiing in the mountains of Vermont and spent his summers watching the ocean as a lifeguard. Lawrence was an avid golfer and he enjoyed automobiles but his greatest joy was his family.
Lawrence was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Annette. He is survived by his children, Lorraine Freeman and her husband George, Virginia Burke Simmonds, Lawrence Jr. and his fiancé Lindsay Nowicki, Bryan & Gerard and his wife Elise; grandchildren Ryan & Dan Orner, Cameron Burke Simmonds, Robert, Kevin & Isabelle Burke, Kristina & Timothy Freeman & Hayley Burke. He also leaves his great granddaughter Dylan Orner.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 1 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass will be held Saturday April 2, 10am at St. Francis Assisi Church 128 Parrott Rd West Nyack, NY 10994.
