Our beloved mother and grandmother went to sleep in the Lord on Monday April 22, 2024, at the Joe Raso Home in New City, N.Y., after suffering from an acute stroke. She was 82 years old. Marie Lucienne, known as Marie Lou, Loulouse or TiLouse was the heart of our home and family.
She was born on March 20, 1942, in the city of Gonaïve in Artibonite, Haiti. She was the daughter of the late Flovel Napoleon and Amarante Bazile. At the age of five she moved to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and was raised by her older cousins the late Carmen and Laurius Pierre. As she grew older, she would vacation from time to time in her native city of Gonaïve, and one time in her early adult years as she was vacationing, she met and married her soulmate, Pierrot Pinchinat, who preceded her in death. Marie Lou is also preceded in death by her sisters Gertha Baron, Eliette Napoleon, and brother Lucien Napoleon.
Marie Lou is survived by her two daughters whom she raised, Erwine, Vinia, and her granddaughter Tiara, in a happy and loving home to be independent, strong, and thoughtful women. In addition, she had an unconditional love and admiration for her son in law who she welcomed as being her own, Rhony, and her two grandsons Yuri, and Dimitri.
She moved permanently to Rockland county, NY when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016, then she developed a remarkably close bond, a more sisterhood relationship with Suzy, then later Mona. As the disease progressed, and she needed 24/7 care she gained additional daughters (her caretaker) whom she loved, and they loved her in return Marcuse, Wedrine, Judith, Bechina, and Emmacula.
Mari Lou was a proud, and hardworking woman. She was always dedicated to her children and to their wellbeing. She was loving, compassionate, very private, but yet she had a good sense of humor, even when faced with the tough realities of this life. She had a deep love for God, and as she always said she turned to him when she lost her beloved. She was a strong believer in education, and always pushed her children to strive for more. She was very business oriented, thus the owner of multiple businesses throughout the years in NY and in Haiti. Most of all she was known for her great sense of fashion. She was a girly girl. She had great appreciation for fragrances, jewelry, shoes, overall looking fabulous and feeling elegant. She was always on point with the fashion trends. She enjoyed art, theater, and music. She loved flowers, and her favorite foods were ice cream, cake, and mango.
Marie Lou was a people person and was loved by many. The family will deeply miss her. she leaves behind countless friends and acquaintances. But, in all of this, we do find comfort in that, Marie Lou received Jesus Christ as Savior in her lifetime so, we know that we will see her again!
