Mary Ann Burns

Mary Ann Burns, of Nanuet, New York, entered into eternal life, surrounded by love, on May, 24, 2025 at the age of 89.Mary Ann, affectionately known as Gaga by some, and MAB by others, is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews, as well as numerous grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents, her beloved sister Cappy (Frank), and loving brother Pete(Mary Lou). Her famous St. Patrick's Day feasts and New Year's Day family gatherings were reflections of how much she valued spending time with her loved ones. She made several trips to Ireland and enjoyed winters in Florida, snowbirding with her sister Cappy. Prior to retirement, Mary Ann enjoyed a 28 year career as the Office Services Manager for Major League Baseball: Office of the Commissioner. This enabled her to attend All Star and World Series games all over the country, often taking along grateful friends and family members.

Mary Ann was born in the Bronx, NY to Peter J. and Catherine Burns, on May 2, 1936, the youngest of three children. She grew up in Parkchester, where she went on to spend most of her adult life before moving to Rockland County. She proudly graduated in 1954 from Villa Maria Academy in the Bronx, New York, and went on to serve on the Board of Directors there. She was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner at St. Augustine’s Parish in New City, where she also served as a Euchiristic Minister.

The family would like to express our gratitude to the personnel at The Promenade, Chestnut Ridge, for their compassionate care of Mary Ann for the past five years, in addition to the outstanding medical and Critical Care professionals at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY for their guidance and skillful care.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:15 AM on Friday, May 30th, at St. Augustine’s Church, 118 S. Main Street, New City, NY, followed by burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY

The family will receive visitors at the funeral home between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, prior to the mass, on Friday, May 30th.
