Michelle Rose Mendez was born on October 15th, 1990 in the Bronx, New York to Rosanne and Henry Mendez.. She grew up in Congers, NY in Rockland County for most of her life, and attended Clarkstown Schools. She attended SUNY Geneseo and graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. It was at
Geneseo that Michelle also became a member of her sorority, Phi Lambda Chi. Michelle then started a career in pharmaceutical sales in the New York metro area, and after a few challenges, eventually moved into finance and relocated to Florida. She looked forward to building a life there, and was optimistic about the future and the new relationships she had developed.
Throughout her upbringing, Michelle participated in many extracurricular activities, and especially enjoyed soccer and choir. Michelle was invited to join several honors societies and had many academic achievements. Michelle had many loyal friends, and that is because she really knew how to be a friend to others. Throughout her life Michelle also remained close with her first cousins, and was a bridesmaid at several weddings.
Michelle had a sassy and sarcastic sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She loved orange soda, chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, Velveeta mac and cheese, Prego sauce, Red Lobster’s
cheddar bay biscuits, travel, Sponge Bob, Harry Potter, and most any murder mystery or true crime
show. She also loved theme parks and roller coasters and especially trips to Busch Gardens and Universal Studios. Family was also important to Michelle and she always made time to do one on one activities with
her parents and siblings.
Those of you who knew Michelle (or maybe even if you were just meeting her…) knew that she was a diehard “Swiftie,” and that some of her best memories in life were spent at Taylor Swift concerts and singing along to her music. Michelle also loved her two furbabies, Todd and Mittens, with all of her heart. She was a devoted “Cat Mom” and would say that she “worked hard so her cats could have a better life.”
Knowing Michelle has changed us for the better. She was a bright light in this world and she will be missed dearly every day by all that had the chance to know her.
In memory of Michelle and her love for animals, donations can be made to: The Hudson Valley Humane Society, 200 Quaker Road, Pomona, NY.
