

Salvatore Buccellato, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on June 27, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Castellammare del Golfo, Siciliy on May 21, 1934. He was a long time resident of Canarsie, Brooklyn where he raised his three children, Frank, Rose and Mary with his wife, Maria Antonia Randazzo. He was a resident of Nanuet, New York since 2003.
Sal had a strong work ethic and was devoted to providing and supporting his family. He was kind and generous and always helped all those around him. He loved baking, cooking and gardening and he loved feeding family and friends and sharing recipes and his home grown vegetables and flowers. His grandchildren filled his heart with the most pride and joy and his love for them was unmatched. He did things for them to the very end and he cooked and baked for them even though he was in crippling pain in his later years.
Sal is survived by his beloved wife Maria of 63 years, their three children: son Frank (and wife Maria D. Muniz), Rose (and husband Patrick Bleuzen), Mary (and husband Salvatore Alfano) and their grandchildren: Alexander and Nicholas Bleuzen, Philip and Salvatore Alfano and Eva Sofia and Brandon Buccellato.
Sal lived his life with integrity, kindness and deep love. He was a powerful force of goodness and his memory will always be a forever blessing in our hearts.
Visitation will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Service Inc., located at 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956, on July 1, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Augustine's Church, 118 S Main St, New City, NY 10956, on July 2, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Entombment will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, 36 W Nyack Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954, on July 2, 2025, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.
