Survived by Daughter, Donna (Greg) Cabana; Sons, David (Teresa) Nelson and Dale Nelson; Sisters, Irene Lancrain, Florence Ore, Darlene (Jack) Purdy; Brothers, Willie (June) Nelson, Donald Nelson, Harold Nelson, Jimmy (Sandy) Nelson; Grandchildren, Cory (Crystal) Cabana, Kelly (Brandon) White, Matthew (Sherri) Nelson, Benjamin (Alexis) Nelson, Johnny Nelson; Great-grandchildren, Madeline and Vincent (Kelly), Tyler, Allison and Rose (Matt), Chloe and Eric (Ben); Godchild, Lori (Stacy) Bodine
Roy was a man full of pride and joy for his wife, children, grand-children and great grand-children. He was part of big fun loving family.
Marie (his wife) was swept off of her feet by this handsome, charming man. They married in Fort Bragg, NC; Dad served in the US Army and trained as a Paratrooper, sharp shooter, flew gliders, and clerk typist. After his term of service they moved to Minnesota and had 56 good years together before she passed.
His loving wife, grandchildren, brothers/sisters were always on the top of his list. Dad loved outdoor activities such as deer and bird hunting, gardening, camping and most of all fishing. His prized possession was his Glastron Boat.
Roy will be remember as a regular guy who was kind, loving, helpful, thrifty, fun-loving, like to tell stories and have a good laugh with friends. He was a friend to all and always looking to do something nice.
Funeral service 12-Noon Thursday (8/11/2016) at Kapala-Glodek-Malone Funeral Home (7800 Bass Lake Rd., New Hope) Visitation with lunch will be from 10:30 am until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment with military honors in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Thursday.
