

RYNELLA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Arthur Joseph Pellerin, age 83, at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at St. Marcellus Catholic Church. Fr. Eugene Tremie will be the celebrant. Readers for the Mass will be Kristin Keeter, Keisha LeBlanc, and Bro. Michael Mary. Gift bearers will be Katlyn Landry, Ashley Pellerin, and Seth Pellerin. Interment will follow in St. Marcellus Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Mens Rosary Group. The Divine Mercy will be recited at 3:00 pm and 7:30 pm on Monday, and at 8:30 am on Tuesday.
Arthur was born May 18, 1929 in Rynella to Balthazar and Estelle Hebert Pellerin and was one of 18 children. On Easter morning, March 31, 2013, he passed away peacefully at his residence, with his family at his side.
Arthur was a retired mechanic with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Dept. with 18 years of service. Many will also remember him when he owned and operated Pellerin’s Shell in New Iberia, and as an insurance agent with United Insurance Company of America. Prior to that, he worked at Morton Salt on Avery Island.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7050, St. Marcellus (where he was a past Grand Knight), a former Knight of Council 3425 and a 4th Degree Knight with Msgr. J.M. Langlois Assembly 321. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Georgie Longon Pellerin of New Iberia; seven children, Glynn Pellerin and wife Suzanne of Franklin, Debbie Thibodeaux and husband Kenneth, Sandra Breaux and husband Sonny, James Pellerin and wife Robbie, Keith Pellerin, Angela Landry and husband Larry, and Kyle Pellerin and wife Lashonda all of New Iberia; 17 grandchildren, Kristin, Colter, Casey, Amber, Marcus, Keisha, Ashley, Bro. Michael Mary, Jean Paul, Chase, Trey, Seth, Angelle, Joel, Braiden, Katlyn and Nevaeh; 10 great grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Viator of New Iberia; and six brothers, Roy, Warren, Joseph, Jimmy, Johnny and Nolan Pellerin all of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mona Pellerin; a granddaughter, Monique Pellerin; his parents, Balthazar and Estelle Pellerin; 4 sisters, Mary Hazel and Roberta Pellerin; Mildred and Odette Segura; and 6 brothers, Irvin, Howard, Leroy John, Robert, Willie, and Daniel Pellerin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Glynn, James, Keith and Kyle Pellerin, Colter Thibodeaux and Jean Paul Pellerin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roy, Warren, Junior, Jimmy, Johnny and Nolan Pellerin.
