Wednesday, November 8, 2023…as the sun rose on another of God’s glorious days, Barbara Dutile Alleman, gently closed her eyes to this earthly life and went on to her eternal glory, surrounded in love by her family. She was 75.
Barbara was born on January 2, 1948 in rural Iberia Parish to the late Desiree Dutile, Sr. and the late Loretta Romero Dutile, one of nine children born to that union. In her lifetime, Barbara worked in many professions, from serving as a waitress during her teen years, as a Kindergarten teacher’s assistant, and a career with Air Logistics that spanned for nearly 30 years before her retirement.
As an avid reader, Barbara loved books. She enjoyed reading books that sparked her imagination and would take her on adventures far and wide. She also had a love for nature and the outdoors. Her daughters reminisced about some of her favorite camping trips to the Great Smoky Mountains and to the Grand Canyon. And as much as she spent time outside, she spent even more in the comfort of her own home. She often sat back to watch her favorite shows on the Sci-Fi network or to cook up a great meal to share with those she loved. It’s been said that Barbara cooked up the best beef roast with rice and gravy, and her seafood gumbo was second to none. Many memories were made at her dinner table, all of which will be cherished for a lifetime.
Above all, her greatest role and accomplishment was being a mother to two beautiful daughters who were her best friends, the proudest grandmother and great grandmother, and sister and friend to so many who loved her. She will be missed dearly, but her legacy will surely live on in the hearts and thoughts of those she loved. Rest well Barbara. We love you.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rhonda A. Champagne (Blaine) and Shannon A. Rodrigue (Mark); her grandchildren, Travis Champagne (Sarah), Hunter Trahan (Haley) and Adrin Mouton (Brodie); her great grandchildren, T.J. Champagne, Easton Mouton, Sawyer Mouton, Maylee Patton and baby Hadley Champagne whom Barbara was eagerly awaiting her arrival in December; and her former husband, Ron Alleman. Barbara is also survived by her siblings, Tina Dutile Olivier, Judy D. Bourque, Marion Viator (Eddie) and Mitchell Dutile (Nicole); her sisters-in-law, Marisa Dutile, Diana Babin and Susan Dutile; and her loving and loyal puppy, Sweety.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Geraldine Dutile and Ann Schmidt; her brothers, Ronnie Dutile and Desiree Dutile, Jr.; and her dearest friend, Jacqueline Tyler.
A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 8:30 am until time of the service at 12:00 noon. Minister Abby Zenon, a dear friend of Barbara, will officiate at the service. Interment will be held privately.
