Charlotte "Pete" LaFleur Gott, age 76, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Pete was born on May 14, 1947, in Jennings, LA to the late Richard and Nora LeGros LaFleur.
Ms. Pete was the cherished wife of Bro. Harlan Gott, and together they founded their ministry through Temple Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith and passion for sharing the love of Jesus Christ touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Throughout her life, Ms. Pete exemplified resilience and devotion. She remained steadfast in her mission to ensure that everyone she encountered was spiritually prepared to meet Jesus. Her dedication extended beyond the walls of the church, as she actively participated in spreading God’s Word locally and worldwide through missionary efforts, embodying the spirit of service and compassion.
Ms. Pete was a devoted wife and partner as well as a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She approached life with a selfless spirit, always prioritizing the needs and happiness of her loved ones above her own. Ms. Pete found immense joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her vision are her sons, Dayle Gott and wife Gloria, Cason Gott and wife Gwen, Jody Gott and wife Leta; her grandchildren, John Dayle Gott, Andrew James Gott and wife Paige, Kyle Gott, William Harlan Gott, Evan Gott and wife Anastasia, Spenser Gott and Keaton Gott; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Hannah, Eden and Noah Gott; sisters, Judy Benoit, Shelly Bozeman and husband Doug; brother, Bentley LaFleur and wife Mary as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Pastor Harlan Gott; grandson, Timothy Gott and her daughter-in-law, Kelsea Broussard Gott.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 10:00 am at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 401 Hwy 90E, New Iberia, LA 70560. Pastor Travis Brice will officiate at the service. Following the service, Ms. Pete will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Gott Family Cemetery in Gott’s Cove.
Visitation will be held at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. The church will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 am until the time of service.
Ms. Pete’s family would like to express their gratitude to Lighthouse Baptist Church and Pastor Travis Brice for their unwavering dedication to her and our family.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
