NEW IBERIA – Christopher “Chris” Jude Desormeaux, a native of New Iberia and resident of Lafayette, closed his eyes to his earthly life in the early morning hours on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
Chris was born March 5, 1984 in New Iberia to the late Jude Desormeaux and Carla Gachassin Dugas and was one of five children.
Chris lived a simple yet fulfilled life. He will be forever remembered as a loving father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, grandson, and friend to all and will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Rhett Jude Desormeaux and Audrey Ann Bussey; mother, Carla G. Dugas ( Don); siblings, Jacob Dugas (Katherine), Alix Dugas, Kyle Desormeaux (Heather), and Megan Mendoza (Zack); maternal grandmother, June H. Gachassin; uncles, Todd Gachassin (Susan), Buddy Gachassin, and Kent Desormeaux (Melissa); and one niece and several nephews.
Along with his father, Jude, Chris was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carol and Patty P. Desormeaux; maternal grandfather, Richard Gachassin, Sr.; and uncle, Kevin Desormeaux.
A celebration of life gathering for Chris will held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Evangeline Funeral Home. Following the visitation, he will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Dugas, Kyle Desormeaux, Kip White, Tyler Gachassin, Cy Desormeaux, and Brian Saunier.
