

NEW IBERIA –Private Memorial Services were held for Mr. Courtney George “C.G.” Snoddy, Jr., age 93, at 11:30 am Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Theo Landry officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
“CG” as he was known to most, was born on September 1, 1923 to Courtney George Snoddy, Sr. and Cecil Wiggins Snoddy of Ville Platte.
C.G. grew up in Bunkie then moved on after graduation to attend Louisiana Northwest State College. He entered the Navy in 1942 and served his country honorably. He trained in GA, TX, FL and MD, served in the abroad receiving numerous medals of Honor. C.G. then went on to graduate from LSU with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Cleco retired Snoddy after 30 years of service to their company where he worked as Manager in the Dequincy, Slidell and New Iberia offices. Most of his work was estimating jobs for equipment and line replacements from Morgan City to Crowley.
C.G. enjoyed hunting in his younger years with his 3 sons. He had a joke for every occasion and leaves behind a wonderful legacy for his family.
Mr. Snoddy is survived by his wife of 66 years Nell Bordelon Snoddy of New Iberia; four children, Bruce Snoddy of Youngsville, Russell Snoddy and wife Cheryl of New Iberia, Calvin Snoddy of New Iberia, and Connie Snoddy Garner of Moss Bluff; nine grandchildren, Sean Snoddy, Courtney Petry, Jonathan Garner, Cameron Williams, Lyn Lee Guthrie, Michelle Snoddy, Travis Garner, Lauren Pommier, and Kevin Garner; nine great grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn Baronne and husband Frank.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Douglas Snoddy, Juanita Snoddy, and Zephyer Snoddy Seegers.
