

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Lawrence Benoit “Pill” Girouard, the former Delta Mae “Dot” Dore, age 82, at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Mario Romero officiating. Interment will follow at the church mausoleum.
Visitation will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home from 9:00 am until the service time on Friday. A rosary will be recited by the Men’s Rosary Group at 11:00 am on Friday.
A native of Youngsville and lifetime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Girouard passed away at 11:20 pm on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Belle Teche Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 19, 1934 to the late Marshall Dore Sr. and the late Elodie Delahoussaye Dore, Dot was one of six children. She was a member of the Wednesday Afternoon Ladies Club. One Wednesday every month the ladies would get together and organize events and plan excursions. She also enjoyed camping with friends, going to the casino, and playing cards. Dot loved being with and caring for her family. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Girouard Arnold and husband Dickey of Franklin and Cindy Girouard Frederick and husband Harry of New Iberia; six grandchildren, Eugene Guillotte, Shellie Guillotte, Jill Theriot and husband Jody, Renee Frederick, Derick Frederick and companion Layla Lemke, and Jered Frederick and wife Brie; thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Millie Martinez; and four sisters-in-law, Sadie Girouard Stokes, Edal Darby Girouard, Carrie Dore, and Cheryl Dore Hebert.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Benoit “Pill” Girouard; parents, Marshall Dore Sr. and Elodie Delahoussaye Dore; four brothers, Leon, JC, Alfred, and Marshall Jr. Dore; and grandson, Jude Anthony Frederick.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Guillotte, Jered Frederick, Derick Frederick, Darrell Dore, Shellie Guillotte, and Jill Theriot.
Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Frederick, Dickey Arnold, and Emma Melancon.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Belle Teche Nursing Home for their loving care to Mrs. Delta better known as “Dellie” They would also like to thank the director, Harvey Koenin, her nurses and aids, Lauren Allen, Jermaine Broussard, July Welcome, Alicia Gage, Lorraine Mitchell, Frieda Callahan, and Latasha Dauphine.
Many thanks go out to Dot’s cousin, Emma Melancon, for all her visits to the doctor with and the love and care you provided to her.
